Beriah Smith

Beriah grew up in a Connecticut dairy farming family. His father’s side has been milking cows since the 1960’s and has grown to a 1,400 cow operation. His mother’s family has been milking cows and working the same land in eastern Connecticut since 1791. Beriah graduated magna cum laude from the The Catholic University of America receiving a B.A. in Politics and minors in Philosophy and Spanish while completing an Honors Track in Environmental Studies and playing varsity baseball. His interest in agricultural issues and the environment motivated him to attend the Vermont Law School and focus on the effect of land use law and environmental regulation on agriculture. Beriah graduated cum laude from the Vermont Law School receiving his J.D. He hopes to focus his practice in land use issues along with helping clients with estates and farm succession plans. He moved to Bismarck in July of 2016 and looks forward to becoming an active member in the local community.
